America’s only full-time professor of art crime") tweets,
first, that the developer in the case "asked me to expert witness this case - told them to settle b/c artist had full #VARA rights - and they did!" and,
second, "attn artists: [the case is] an example of how having a contract can prevent your work from being destroyed."
More from Crain's Detroit Business, which reports that "[a]ccording to the lawsuit, a contract was signed, with [the developer] agreeing the mural would 'remain on the building for no less than a 10 years time period.'"
